The Tigerlily guide to surviving the Edinburgh Festival
Every August Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh plays host to the biggest arts festival in the world – The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Comedians and performers from all over the world flock to this beautiful city, swelling the population to double its normal size.

The warmer weather and light nights mean that a day at the Edinburgh festival can last longer than expected. As you spontaneously buy a ticket for a show, meet interesting people or simply stop to watch the street performers you can lose track of time and find yourself running back to your room in a mad dash to get ready for dinner.

Well fear not because Tigerlily have come up with the ultimate festival survival kit, so you can enjoy everything Edinburgh has to offer – all day long.

The Survival Kit
Backpack
This survival kit is going to need somewhere to live, and so are the flyers you’ll be handed walking up and down the Royal Mile. These are some of Tigerlily’s favourites:
Leather backpack £19.99 TX Maxx (pictured)

Kanken http://www.fjallraven.co.uk/
Waterproof
Scotland is famous for its comically bad and changeable weather. So even if the day starts off sunny, you’ll probably experience a little precipitation:K-way macs https://www.k-way.co.uk

Suncream and Sunglasses
It rains a lot in Scotland, yes, but the strength of the sun's rays here are often underestimated.
Tigerlily recommends a once day sunscreen like Piz Buin (pictured).
Sunglasses are a must at any festival. Tens sunglasses are a real life Instagram filter. These sunglasses come in a variety of styles and sizes. Not to mention they will make Edinburgh look even more beautiful: https://www.tenslife.com/

Powerbank and A Map App
During the Fringe there are hundreds of different venues and some can be very hard to find. So a good mapping app is essential. Most of these are free to download.
You don't want to run out of juice when you are trying to find Venue 456 so make sure you take a portable charger. There is a massive choice of these on Amazon to suit all budgets.
Day to Night Look
Comfortable shoes are a must during the festival – Edinburgh sits over seven hills and you’ll be doing a lot of walking.
Schuh have a good range and offer student discount: http://www.schuh.co.uk/

Throw over a camel coat or a funky bomber and you’re ready to go out in the evening. Add a moisture rich lipstick for a pop of colour.

Ask The Experts...
"A tote bag is a fringe must. It's good for the environment, matches with everything, and how else can you get rid of or hide all of those pesky flyers you get for the billionth comedy show you do not, repeat not, do not want to go to."
Briana Pegado, Director at Edinburgh Student Arts Festival
